Things to Remember

New Community Ambulance

The white Community Ambulance, handed over to the town on 22nd July 1995 has at last been replaced by a new blue vehicle today, 18th August 2005

The Mayor of Watton, Alf Harvey, was handed the keys by Graham Late of Help the Aged and Gwen Biggadike of the Royal Pigeon Racing Association, a major backer of Help the Aged's Senior Mobility Campaign. Mr Harvey in turn handed over to Roy Rudling, Mayor of Watton last year, who had made the replacement of the ambulance his project for his year of office. A wide variety of funders gave money to buy the vehicle from the odd pound or two given to Roy in the street to £8,000 from Breckland Council. Other donations included Help the Aged, Chamber of Trade, Watton Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs, the Day Care Centre, Past Mayor Marilyn Scrymgeour's Slimming Sponsorship, various Parish Councils  and Churches, Watton Thursday Club, Watton Relief in Need and many other organisations and individuals from Watton and the surrounding area who had made use of the old vehicle.
