Celebrating 150 years in Watton

Watton Pentecostal church is celebrating 150 years in the Town of Watton. Some people think that the pastors of the church have been here all that time but we are assured by Pastor Chris Pye that this is not so.

It is the church building that has been at its present site for 150 years the foundation stone being laid on the 3rd of April 1856 by Rev. John Alexander of Norwich.

To celebrate the church felt that it would be good to do something for the town and so it was decided to produce a web site that records the towns history. Realising that the task was too great for us alone, we invited other people in the town to work with us to produce something of lasting benefit.

You are now looking at the results of that co-operation.

We felt that it would be worthwhile to give a brief history of the building and this follows below:

The Early Days
Rapid Growth
Change of Ownership
A New Era
